Get Tools

In the Get Tools section, we offer a variety of tools that can assist in determining water quality.

Upcoming Tools

We are also working on other water quality tools, such as a the Water Quality Index for Drinking Water, a Global Drinking Water Quality Database and Map, EDR Radius Map, Radon Levels by State/County Zones, Chlorine Contact Calculators, Corrosion Calculator, Reverse Osmosis Performance Calculator, Shock Disinfection Calculator, and a Wellbore Volume Calculator.

Drinking Water Self-Diagnostic Tool

The KnowYourH2O™ Self-Diagnostic Drinking Water Tool is a questionnaire that asks a series of questions about observations that an individual can make using their senses of sight, smell, taste, and touch and readily available information about the home. These observations can be readily apparent or can be observed as they change over time.

Neighborhood Environmental Reports

The program, Neighborhood Environmental Report™, offers a search of over 1,400 databases and millions of records of potential land and groundwater contamination within a 1-mile radius of the entered address. The report includes a search for concerns that might be dangerous to a homeowner’s family or investment such as nearby leaking underground oil tanks, leaky underground fuel tanks (LUSTs), leaky above-ground tanks (LASTs), problem areas from the CDC Health Assessment Database, landfills, hazardous waste sites, DOD facilities, gas and radiological sources, National Wetland Mapping, Flooding mapping data, drug houses, and clandestine drug labs. Neighborhood Environmental Reports identify potential hidden water contamination locations and issues within your community.

By entering your address, selected government databases identify known and potential contamination sites within a 300-foot radius, describe potential environmental issues beyond 300 feet and up to 1 mile from the target location, and list contact information for the government agencies that provide the data. Not all database subjects are available in every state. We have found this to be a very valuable tool for individuals moving into a new area or when you are unsure of the environmental history for your community.  All reports generated by the project are saved and we hope to compile them into a zip-code-based summary for an area.
